Within the context of the 14 Principles and to conclude this symposium, I provide a few reflections below on the greatest human rights challenges faced by migrants, refugees, and the displaced in the last year.

Guy S. Goodwin-Gill is a Professor at the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law, University of New South Wales, Emeritus Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, Emeritus Professor of International Refugee Law, and an Honorary Associate of Oxford’s Refugee Studies Centre. He practiced as a Barrister at Blackstone Chambers, London, from 2002-18, is the Founding Editor of the International Journal of Refugee Law, and was Editor-in-Chief from 1989-2001. In February 2020, he received the Stefan A. Riesenfeld Memorial Award at Berkeley Law, for his contributions to international refugee law. Among his many publications dealing with international law and the movement of people between States is The Refugee in International Law. The fourth edition, now coauthored with Professor Jane McAdam and Emma Dunlop, was published by Oxford University Press in September 2021.
